2012 Take a Kid Fishing- event sponsored by the Oxford Parks and Recreation Department and the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission, will be held on Saturday, May 19th from 9:00 am to 12:30 pm at the Red Barn on Lake Devin.  Participants may be 6 to 15 years of age.  There is no fee for this activity but all interested must PRE-REGISTER at the Parks and Recreation Department to be able to participant.  Only 30 applications will be accepted.  Only 2 adults may accompany the child during the event.  The purpose of the event is to encourage youth to fish and to develop an appreciation for our natural resources.  Wildlife Biologists will be on site and will share information about fish, aquatic life, and fishing.  A hot dog cookout, goodie bags, and door prizes will also be enjoyed by participants.

Annual Easter Egg Hunt-  The Easter Bunny came to Hix Gym and spread eggs all over the fields for the boys and girls to scoop up in their baskets on March 27 at 10am.  Click here to see pictures from the Easter Egg Hunt.

 

 

2012 Race For Life-  The 2012 Race for Life, sponsored by the Oxford Parks and Recreation Department was held on March 24th.  All proceeds and entry fees are sent directly to the American Cancer Society for research to find a cure for cancer.  Follow this link http://results.active.com/pages/page.jsp?pubID=3&eventID=2010337 to view the results of the run.  Click here to view photos from the run.
