Baseball/Softball
Registration
Register at the office, 227 W. McClanahan St., Oxford,
or download registration form from the website, and mail it in with the
fee: $25 for city residents and $35 for non-city residents. Deadline is
March 10, 2010.
Wee Ball is offered to girls and
boys (co-ed) for ages 3-4. Child must have turned 3 on or before January 1,
2010. Child can not turn 5 on or before April 30, 2010.
5-6 Coach Pitch (Previously
named T-Ball) is offered to girls and boys (co-ed) for ages 4-6. Child
must have turned 4 on or before January 1, 2010. Child can not turn 7 on or
before April 30, 2010.
Machine Pitch Baseball is offered
for ages 8 and under. Child can not turn 9 on or before April 30, 2010.
Machine Pitch Softball is offered
to girls, ages 8 and under. Child can not turn 9 on or before December 31,
2009.
Baseball is offered
to boys, various leagues for ages 9 to 19 years old. Child can not turn 19
on or before April 30, 2010. Age divisions may be combined.
Fast-pitch Softball is offered to
girls, various leagues for ages 13 and under. Child can not turn 14 on or
before December 31, 2009.
Fast-pitch Softball will be
offered to girls 14 and older. Deadline will be mid-April. This will be a
competitive league and teams may be allowed to register by the team. More
details in the future.

Adult Winter Fit Class- Sponsored by Oxford Parks & Recreation
Department, Henderson/Vance YMCA, Granville/Vance Health Department & In
Conjunction with the “Weight Loss Challenge” (Participants MUST be 18 or
older).
“Night Fit”
Monday Nights – 5:30
P.M. to 6:15 P.M. - Beginning January 18th through March 22nd
there will be aerobics classes
in the aerobics room in the Hix Gym. (THERE IS A LIMIT OF ONLY 25
PARTICIPANTS FOR MONDAY AEROBICS CLASSES DUE TO SPACE LIMITATIONS.
PARTICIPATION IS ON THE FIRST COME FIRST SERVE BASIS EACH NIGHT. FOR THOSE
NOT ABLE TO GET INTO THE CLASS, THE EXERCISE ROOM MAY BE MADE AVAILABLE)
Tuesday through Thursday
beginning January 19th through February 25th,
participants may come to the exercise room and work out independently any
time between the hours of 5:30 and 7:30.
“Lunchtime Fit”
Wednesdays – 12:15 to
1:00 – Beginning January 18th through March 22nd there
will be aerobics classes in the gymnasium at Hix for all those interested.
There is no limit to the number of participants.
Daily – Participants may come to the Hix Gym any day
to walk and/or work out in the exercise room. The gym is opened M-F 5:30 am
to 5:00 pm for exercise. (WALKING MAY BE LIMITED AFTER 3:00 PM ON SOME DAYS
DUE TO MAINTENANCE OR YOUTH PROGRAMS. THE EXERCISE ROOM WILL BE ACCESSIBLE
MOST DAYS.)
**Because basketball is in
the gymnasium, participants should arrive early in order to park close by.
Parking is limited!
**PLEASE DO NOT BRING
CHILDREN AS THEY WILL NOT BE ALLOWED IN THE EXERCISE ROOM
Cookies &
Milk With Santa- Santa came to Hix on December 15th 9:30am-11am and
brought goodies for all the good boys and girls that showed up. The
kids got to take pictures
with Santa and got to enjoy cookies and milk while watching holiday

Senior
Christmas Social- The Oxford Parks and Recreation Department staff
on December 17, 6:30am-10:30am held our Senior Christmas Social at Oxford
Recreational Complex. The Seniors had breakfast, a walk and music to
celebrate the holidays. Santa made the trip down to join in on the

Walk
n Shop- Walkers
came out Saturday morning, November 7th for a leisurely walk to support
breast cancer research. Walkers enjoyed a small ceremony honoring those who
have fought the battle and won and those who are fighting the battle against
breast cancer today, and then a walk down beautiful downtown, college
street, the Masonic Home, and back. All proceeds from this event will be
sent directly to the Kay Yow Foundation and will be used for Breast Cancer

Line
Dancing Class- The Oxford Parks & Recreation is offering Line
dance classes for anyone interested, beginning November 8th.
Classes will be held every second and fourth Sunday from 4-5 pm at the
Public Works Complex, located on 227 W. McClanahan St. Cost for the classes
will be $5.00 per class. The instructor will be Bob Webster from Cary, N.C.
To sign up for the classes or to obtain more information on them call the
Recreation Department at 919-603-1135 or 1156. To hold classes, must have
minimum of 15 participants.

Eat Smart, Move More
Exercise Class-
The Oxford Parks and Recreation Department with the Henderson Family
YMCA will be offering a free exercise class at Hix Gym Aerobics Room
soon. Wear
comfortable clothes and bring water! Let’s get moving and come ready to
sweat! Starting dates coming soon.
