Volunteers make it possible for the Department to exist. Nearly 200
volunteers team up to make this Department one of the most diverse municipal
parks and recreation departments in the state. Each of our volunteers is
as essential
to our function as the heart is to survival of any creature.
They are the heart of all that occurs.
Are you retired, disabled, don't work, or do
work and just willing? If you have time, a skill, or simply want
something great to do, become a volunteer!

Opportunities available for willing volunteers.....
Arts - Dance, drama, crafts, painting, drawing, voice...Interested
in doing a class? If you have the skill to share, or maybe just want
to help? Contact us!
Athletics - Can you coach? Athletics are successful only
with good volunteer coaches. If you love kids and sports, you can
influence a child's life in so many ways. Be a coach or help a coach!
Preservation of Natural Resources - Help to preserve what we have.
Help in educating the public and completing projects that assure our Natural
Resources remain unharmed.
Camps - Sports, arts, nature, schlastics, professions - If you
have an area of expertise, let us set up a camp with you. Expose our
kids and excite them!
Sciences - Science is exciting! How can you share? The
possibilities are endless! Is astronomy your "nitch?" Imagine a
"night of the stars" where we actually learn about the stars!
Construction - blue prints, carpentry, electrical, painting, roofing
and more....If you ahve the time, we have the project!
Professional Services - Do you have the skills? Strategic and
capital planning, landscape architecture, design...become a part of our
future!
Advisory Committee - Ask about an appointment. Help to plan for

Special Events - Multiple special events occur throughout the year
from kids events to a car show, 3 to 15 volunteers are needed for every
event.

If you are interested in becoming a regular volunteer, join Volunteer
Services. This program is designed to provide an opportunity for
citizens to share and become involved in their community as well as to
provide support to staff for enhancement of services. A list of
volunteers is compiled to enable staff to identify persons available to
assist with special event and projects.
Members may volunteer for as few or as many hours as they wish.
Members meet and set guidelines, identify projects that will enhance services,
assist with volunteer recruitment efforts, and communicate with staff
to determine needs for assistance throughout the year.
